Getting Involved: Would You Like to Help?
Our Society is made up of its members of whom some are part of the committee that take care of many of the main activities of the society. The committee is small and we appeal to members to give us a helping hand as and when they can.
We are proud to say that many members have generously stepped forward to help with social events, travel, raffles etc. Still, we need more team spirited people to join our support teams. An essential ingredient for a successful and smooth running Society is the kind people who volunteer their time and knowledge to help with various tasks.
There are many areas and ways in which you could assist us by joining one of our support teams:
Lecture Day Team
- sell raffle tickets and tickets for events/travel
- be part of a welcome team for new members
- operate digital equipment – power point
- assist at the lecture day desks (visitors, membership, events and travel)
Publicity Team
- be responsible for the Notice Board outside the lecture venue
- help to distribute lecture programmes and lecture posters
- prepare monthly power point presentation
- proof read publicity material
- provide photos/or write short reports on travel for our web site
- help with radio and TV interviews
- assist with WordPress web site management
- assist with Facebook and Twitter posting
Social Events Team
- assist with the organization of the events
Other
- hosting a visiting lecturer
- assist at the AGM on the day
- assist with finding patrons
- assist on Extra Lecture days
- assist the committee in their various roles
